About Megan

GrossHannan-12 Welcome! My name is Megan Hannan (she/they). I’m a queer, genderqueer DONA certified birth doula, CD(DONA), a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, RYT500 / E-RYT200, and a writer. I’m also the parent to an energetic, vivacious middle school aged daughter, who loves all things fantasy, outdoors, and reading!

A Colorado transplant (2015), I’m originally from south-eastern Pennsylvania, where I was born and raised in the country before living outside Philadelphia for 11 years. The move to the Denver area, prompted by an amazing job opportunity for my husband, was the perfect chance for me to get my yoga teacher certification, and my doula certification through DONA.

Ever since seeing my sister born in a birth center at age 7, I knew that an unmedicated birth at a birth center was my goal. After two amazing birth experiences (following three pregnancies), one with my daughter, and one as a surrogate for a beautiful baby boy in January 2015, I could not be more excited to help other people achieve their own birth goals! While my official doula journey started in 2015, I have been supporting people in various capacities my whole life, and this was just the formal next step.

Yoga has been my grounding “me time” since I first attended a class in 2012. It helps me find my calm, no matter what else life throws at me, and I love to share that feeling as a teacher. I became a RYT200 in 2016, an E-RYT200 in Jan 2022, and an RYT500 in July 2022. I enjoy teaching restorative and alignment-based hatha classes.

I am also certified as a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC). I breastfed my daughter until she self weaned at 3 years 3 months, and I love helping people to achieve their breastfeeding/chestfeeding goals, whether that be 3 day, 3 months, or 3 years. Education is so important, so my prenatal doula appointments will certainly include as much breastfeeding/chestfeeding information as the client desires! (Note: if breast/chestfeeding is not for you, you’ll have my support there as well. It is a very personal choice!)

Besides yoga and birth, my passions are travel, camping, writing, reading, and cooking. I also enjoy hiking and photography, am an advocate for my Queer community, believe Black Lives Matter, Trans rights are Human rights, and stand in solidarity with the Asian community against AAPI hate.

No matter what type of birth you are looking for, or why you want to try yoga, I look forward to working with each individual (and couple) to get the most from our time together.
