MY OWN YOGA JOURNEY & WHY I TEACH

I’ve found through my own journey that yoga was never just about exercise.

Though I’m stronger and healthier at 40 than I was at 20 – by far. The things I can do with my body now, I couldn’t have dreamed of when I first started.

From my very first class, I fell in love.

I fell in love with the movement. The philosophy. The mindfulness. The strength. The flow. 

I fell in love with who I was becoming.

I fell in love with coming home.

I found that I was calmer. And I soon realized that it’s not just a physical practice, it’s a mental and emotional one too.

Yoga became more than something I did on my mat. It became something I learned to do all the time. I loved it so much that I wanted it to be more than just part of my life – I wanted it to become my lifestyle.

And more than anything, I wanted to share the experience of being home in body and mind.

My own journey has taught me that yoga is nothing outside of us – it’s all inside.

It’s learning to tap into the pieces of ourselves that are intimately connected to everything bigger – humanity, the universe, God, all of those things, none of those things, some of those things – we are all connected to something much bigger than us.

Whenever we feel alone or small or insignificant, if we can tap into that something, we can realize just how amazing and big and important we really are.

We can come home because we are home.

And that is why I teach.

MY SPECIALTIES & CERTIFICATIONS

I teach Hatha/Align, Restorative, or a combination – with or without meditation – and love exploration of arm balances.

I am an RYT500 + E-RYT200 with a 50 hour Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY) Certificate, plus additional trainings and certifications & offer private, corporate, & studio lessons.

I’m also fully certified and insured + have my Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certification. 

You don’t do yoga because you are flexible, you do yoga to become more flexible – in body and mind.

PRIVATE LESSONS

The absolute best thing about private lessons is that we can work toward any goal and will format your lessons in ways that are best for you.

We can structure lessons similarly to in-studio classes, have more of a workshop approach, focus on basic poses and their proper alignment, or work toward a pose of your choice.

Whatever you’re working toward, I’ll ensure your classes are designed to support you.

I’ve had many private clients opt for a combination of both Hatha & Restorative.

In Hatha, we’ll focus on what each shape can look like to be healthy and safe for your body. This looks slightly different for every body and is one of the most beautiful things about private lessons – we tailor movement, strength, and release to you.

Restorative is slow, gentle, and mindful. We’ll find long holds in shapes to help your body (and your mind) stretch and release. Once you start to release into the stillness of the shape, your mind can start to release and slow down too.

CORPORATE YOGA

In a corporate setting, I love to bring really fun and accessible all-levels classes to your team – whether in the office, on location, or on retreats.

Each class is a little different, but our focus is on getting everyone’s body moving and feeling good – because when your people feel good, their work is great.

We’ll work on stretching areas that become tight from sitting at desks, or if you run a more active company, any areas that tend to stiffen from other job-related tasks.

Our main objective is for every team member to leave every class feeling like they did something good for their body and their mind.

I’ll curate custom classes to serve your employees best so they can go be their best.

IN STUDIO

I love to teach people who want to connect more with their bodies and want to learn what their bodies are capable of – whether that’s feeling more comfortable moving at all or just being playful and trying new things!

Studio classes are the perfect setting to connect with yourself and your fellow yogis, to give and receive many points of encouragement, to learn and expand your practice through actively growing with your peers, and let’s be honest – to get out of the house!

And special bonus – new friendships are a common occurrence.

My studio classes focus on Hatha, Yoga with Weights, Restorative, or a combination  – whether for all-levels students or more advanced practitioners.
